2 dangerous driving behaviors that can cause catastrophes

On Behalf of | Mar 10, 2025 | Personal Injury

Drivers must ensure that they’re taking appropriate steps to drive as safely as possible. Any deviation from their duties can lead to catastrophic crashes. Some drivers don’t realize that their actions aren’t safe, so they continue to do them without any thought.

There are two specific dangerous driving behaviors that are avoidable, so drivers shouldn’t ever do these.

1. Fatigued driving

Fatigued driving is often the result of lack of sleep. A person who hasn’t slept in 20 hours can experience effects similar to that of a person who’s legally intoxicated. Fatigue can also be caused by other reasons like medical conditions or driving when the driver would normally sleep. A fatigued driver may doze off at the wheel, which leaves the vehicle without proper control for the duration of the doze.

2. Distracted driving

Drivers who don’t give their full attention to the road can crash into other vehicles. Even things that most people do without thinking twice about can be distractions. Some examples include looking at billboards, eating a burger, talking to other people in the vehicle or checking the GPS.

Victims of crashes caused by these reasons may need significant medical care, which can be costly to obtain. Those individuals may opt to pursue a compensation claim to help them pay for the expenses related to the crash. The claim can include the costs of medical bills, compensation for lost wages and other related damages. Because of the complexity of these cases, victims should consider working with someone familiar with these matters.
